I teach gentle Qigong classes for beginners and experienced practitioners, from a private studio set within a lush lakeside garden. You're warmly welcome to come and join us.

An introduction

What is Qigong?

Silhouette of Kadama practising qigong by a lake at sunset, one arm raised in a flowing pose

Qi (chi) means life force energy. Gong means to work or cultivate. Qigong is the practice of cultivating that energy.

Drawing on thousands of years of Chinese Daoist wisdom, Qigong uses gentle movement, posture, and breath to support physical health, emotional balance, and mental clarity. Tai Chi and acupuncture come from the same tradition.

It's not strenuous, and it's not a religion. It's a practical, time-tested set of exercises that almost anyone can do, and the benefits accumulate quietly, over weeks of practice.

In my classes, I focus on the practical side of the learning rather than the theory. The forms are designed to do their work; my job is to help you settle into them.

About Kadama

About Me

Portrait of Kadama in a white qigong robe, hands held in a salute, in front of a red-ribboned stone guardian statue in China

I'm Kadama (Claude Paul Maraschin), a Qigong practitioner and instructor whose life has been a long journey of healing and self-discovery. I've trained in martial arts and energy practices with masters in Australia, China, and Thailand.

As a teacher, my emphasis is practical, not theoretical. I bring a calm, grounded awareness to every class, and I trust the forms to do what they're designed to do, clearing and supporting the body's natural energy flow so that deeper understanding and wellbeing can follow.

I'm also a qualified remedial massage therapist (Diploma of Remedial Massage) and a certified Siddha Vaidya practitioner. I earned my Siddha certification in Kerala, South India, in July 2000, and have travelled back to Kerala several times since to study and assist my teacher, Dr Harichandran. I've been practising massage for more than 23 years across Australia and Europe.

Siddha Vaidya Massage

An ancient South Indian therapy for chronic pain.

Alongside Qigong, I offer Siddha Vaidya, a traditional South Indian bodywork system using medicated herbal oils and a heated herbal poultice to treat long-standing muscle and joint pain.

The signature treatment, Ella Kirrhi, is particularly effective for chronic back, shoulder, and neck pain, frozen shoulder, arthritis, and repetitive strain. It's a therapeutic treatment, not a relaxation massage.

$120 per session. By private appointment.

What Clients Say

  • Having tried a number of therapeutic massages in the past, I found the Siddha Massage to be quite unique. My back pain improved dramatically after the treatment, and over the next few days I felt much more relaxed. I'd recommend it to anyone.

    Vito G.

    Five Dock

  • Quite different to any massage I'd ever tried. The soothing heat of the oil and the skill with which the treatment was carried out not only relieved my neck and shoulder pain but left me feeling very relaxed and refreshed.

    Riri T.

    Doonside

  • I'd suffered with pain in my right shoulder and right down my arm. I tried a course of physiotherapy over weeks but nothing helped. Within a couple of treatments from Kadama I was relieved of pain and could raise and move my arm again.
